OCEAN CITY- Rommel’s Ace Hardware captured the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s adult summer soccer league title last week, routing the Greene Turtle, 8-0, in the championship game.
Rommel’s, which won the regular season championship with a 9-2 record, took care of business against the Turtle in the title game, scoring two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into intermission. In the second half, Rommel’s poured it on with six more goals to cruise to the 8-0 championship win.
Josh Elliott led all Rommel’s scorers with a hat-trick, while Jonathan Forte and Justin Brooks-Ward scored two goals each in the win. Sam Svenson also scored for Rommel’s in the championship game.
The Turtle, with a 7-2-2 regular season record, was the league’s second seed. Rommel’s beat Ajax, 2-1, in its semifinal match-up to reach the championship game, while the Turtle beat Shenanigan’s by the same score in its semifinal.
