Mardi Gras Carnival Events Planned For Charity

OCEAN CITY – This year’s King and Queen candidates are currently hosting their individual events in the hopes of raising the most money for the Ocean City Parrothead Club’s Mardi Gras Carnival.

This year’s Kings are Adam Osborn, Mike Cobo, Chris Hall and Mike Rutledge. The Queen candidates are Patti Miller, Veronica Donaldson, Lisa Tilghman and Mandi Wells. All money raised will go to the Life Crisis Center and Decatur Lifesavers Jr. Red Cross. The King and Queen candidates raising the most amount of money will be crowned at the Mardi Gras Carnival on March 7 at the Carousel.

The black-tie optional Mardi Gras Carnival event features sumptuous food prepared by some of Delmarva’s finest chefs and an open bar of the finest wines and spirits. Music will be provided by Mary Lou and the Untouchables. There will be live and silent auctions.

Tickets are being sold now at $90 each, or if you prefer to reserve seating, you can gather some friends together and reserve a "Krewe" table of 10, for $1,200.

A fashion show, "Yesterday, Today, & Tomorrow featuring the Calendar Girls", will be held Friday Feb. 15, from 5-10 p.m. for Veronica Donaldson at Betty Bush’s House. Entrance fee is $25. Call Donaldson at 410-603-1300 or email [email protected].

Patti Miller invites all to a Royal Wine Tasting on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Solstice General Store from 6-9 p.m. Sampling of wines as well as a variety of cheeses and meats available for an entrance cost of $10 per person. Call Miller at 443-880-7795.

Adam Osborn will hold an American Legion Happy Hour Party on Feb. 16 from 4-8 p.m. featuring lite fare and happy hour drink prices. Call 410-213-0037.

Mandi Wells is hosting a Longest Drive & Putting Contest at Deer Run Golf Course on Saturday, Feb 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Call 410-726-5493 or email [email protected].

Veronica Donaldson is planning “Star Light, Star Bright” on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at BJ’s on the Water from 5-10 p.m. Entrance fee is 10. Vote for your favorite realtor and win cash and gift certificates. Realtors are being sought to dress as a movie star or their favorite person and tell why they are the best realtor in town. Mandi Wells will be holding a Silent Auction, 50/50 raffle event on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Bull on the Beach in West Ocean City. In addition, a similar event will be held at the Steer Inn on Feb. 23 with a live band featured. Contact Mandi Wells at [email protected].

Lisa Tilghman will be holding a Ho Down on Feb. 23 from 5-10 p.m. on Gary Renshaw’s Farm in Eden. More details to be announced.

Michael Rutledge on Sunday, Feb. 24 at Harborside will hold a tailgate featuring football, food and fun from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Members of the 2007 Maryland terrapin football team will be in attendance as will Baltimore Ravens players Spence Malal and Mike Flynn and professional hockey player David Johns. Donation accepted at the door, food and silent auction featuring signed sports memorabilia.

Veronica Donaldson on Wednesday Feb. 27 will hold Ocean City’s Boot Stomping Contest, featuring the “Ocean City’s Mardi Gras Top Coyote Cutie” contest. It will be held at Kirby’s Pub from 5-10 p.m. Winner could claim $100 cash prize and $500 in local gift certificates. Entrance fee is 10.00 and includes free food and happy hour prices. Patti Miller will be holding a  Little Red Mardi Gras Golf Cruise on March 1 from 7-10 p.m. at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. There will be three ports of call: New Orleans, Jamacia and Mexico. Music will be by DJ Wax. There will be a Magic Carpet Cake, Great Diamond Hunt, silent auction and great music. Tickets are $50 each.
