Michael H. Mitchell Jr.

BERLIN – Michael H. Mitchell Jr., 19, of Berlin, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Michael H. Mitchell Sr. and step-mother, Marie Palmer and Tamera Wilkerson Mitchell and step-father, Robert Colflesh.

He was an avid bow hunter, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheeler and drag racing with his dad. He owned and operated Mitchell & Son Landscaping and was a past member of the Berlin Fire Department Cadet Program. His life lives on with tissue donations to The Living Legacy.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Nicole Mitchell and her friend Dylan Betts; a brother, Bryon Moore; grandparents, Robert and Debbie Wilkerson of Bishopville and grandmother, Peggy Mitchell of Salisbury; aunts and uncles, Robyn and Michael Fay of Tampa, Fla., Denise and James Black of Princess Anne and Melissa and Rick Powell of Berlin; many cousins, friends and extended family as well as his friend who was like a brother, Justin Riner; his special K-9 companion, Bo; friends, Ricky, Danny, David and Peter; and his girlfriend, Bobbi Sue Sadler. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Harry Mitchell, maternal grandmother, Donna Wilkerson, and his great grandmother, Louise Bozman.

Dr. Armand S. Hall

BERLIN – Dr. Armand S. Hall, 76, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Whaleyville, he was the son of the late Horace James Hall and Dorothy Roach Hall. He is survived by a son, Dr. Steven Michael Hall and his wife Alexandra of Berlin; a daughter, Lauren Ashley Hall Furillo and her husband Douglas of Fruitland; his longtime companion, Mona Kellum Bloecher of Salisbury; and two grandchildren, Alexander Bradford Hall and Stephanie Alayne Hall of Berlin.

Hall was a Master Dentist of the Academy of General Dentistry, which is the highest professional award attained in clinical dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

He initially began his practice of dentistry joining the United States Public Health Service working with the Chippewa Indians in North Dakota and Cherokee Indians in North Carolina. Moving back to his home on the Eastern Shore, he first had an office in Pocomoke and then for many years in Ocean City and most recently in Berlin.

Hall was a member of St. Paul’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City, where he was a lay reader. He was a 32rd Degree member of Evergreen Masonic Lodge #153 AF & AM, Ocean City Shrine Club, Boumi Temple, Ocean City Lions Club, past member of the U.S. Trotting Association, and a private airplane pilot. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting.

Mamie Lou Adkins

BERLIN – Mamie Lou Adkins, age 69, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Born in Temperanceville, Va., she was the daughter of the late William Trader and Madeline Smack Trader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Adkins, in 1993; a brother, Billy Trader and a very special aunt, Margaret Ann Waterfield. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Shockley, of Showell; her brother-in-law, Sam West and his wife Betty of Berlin; a very special friend Mary Holloway of Berlin; cousins Judy Ewell and Bob Bassett of Berlin; god son Chuck Shockley; and god daughter, Carol Cross. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She had been a cafeteria director for the Worcester County Board of Education for 28 years and had assisted her husband with his farming and his school bus contracting. She was a member of Faith Chapel Presbyterian Church in Libertytown where she was a deacon and an elder. She was famous for hosting the deer hunters breakfast for many years.

Janice A. Tamblingson

BERLIN – Janice A. Tamblingson (Nulty), of Berlin and formerly of Kennett Square, Pa., age 61, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at University of Maryland Medical Center.

Born in Springfield, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James A. and Dorothy M. Nulty. She was the loving wife of Ross. L. Tamblingson with whom she shared 38 years of marriage.

She was a devoted wife, loving mom and a proud nana. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was a career receptionist and loved her job. She worked for Intervet/Shering-Plough for the last 15 years. She was very active in supporting a great cause, Women Supporting Women.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Patti Strecker and her husband Jason and Stephanie Rochester and her husband Michael; a son, David Tamblingson and Lydia Segui; a sister, Dorothea Nulty; brothers Richard Nulty and his wife Connie, and Laurence Nulty and his wife Loraine; sister-in-law Gertrude Nulty; grandchildren, Ashley and Justin Rochester, Haley, Seth and Casey Strecker; three nieces; three nephews; and three great nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia A. Nulty, and her twin brother, James A. Nulty, III.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines. William Mack Patton, Sr.

BERLIN – William Mack Patton, Sr., 80, died Friday, May 23, 2008 at Atlantic General Hospital.

Born in Gibsonville, N.C., he was the youngest of seven sons of the late Jacob D. and Annie Daniel Patton. He was a graduate of Gibsonville High School, where he was a five-star athlete and Delaware Technical Community College. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and was stationed at Chincoteague Naval Air Station in Virginia.

A long-time resident of Berlin, he was a contractor/builder by trade and retired in 1988 after 11 years as a building inspector for the Federal Government. He was a member of the Redmen’s Lodge and played baseball with the Berlin Bombers. He was an avid collector of antiques and loved to craft furniture and work in the garden.

He was predeceased in death by two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Patton and Robin E. Patton; a son, William M. “Billy” Patton, Jr.; and his grandson, Vance Thomas Schultz.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara “Bobbi” Jordan; a daughter, Karen Gail Patton Schultz of Newtown, Conn.; a brother, D.C. Patton of Gibsonville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Neil Schultz, Kellie Marvel, Brian Patton, Rebecca Dunn, Tina, Anjelica, Issaic and William Holland; and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation followed his death with a private service for family.

Anton “Tony” Suchyj

OCEAN CITY – Anton “Tony” Suchyj, age 68, of Wilmington, Del., passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at home after a long, difficult battle with cancer.

He was born in the Ukraine and came to this country with his parents in 1950. He grew up on the West Coast in Centralia, Wash. After graduating from Centralia High School, he joined the Air Force where he learned the trade that shaped his future career –servicing business machines. He became acquainted with Delaware after being stationed at Dover Air Force Base and decided to settle here. He was first employed locally by Hilyard Business Machines and Brandywine Cash Reg Company. He then launched his own business, "A" Cash Reg Company, which he operated for 14 years. He concluded his work experience at Delaware Business Machines, Accurate Office Machines and eventually as manager at the Purple Moose in Ocean City before retiring.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge Post #630. He enjoyed traveling with his family to see many sights across the USA. He and his wife shared many treasured trips to the beaches of Florida, Ocean City and the Caribbean. He had a passion for fishing and loved playing cards and pool with his friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, Anton Suchyj and Sina and Alex Krawczenko. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara; his son, John and daughter-in-law, Shelley; and his two precious grandsons, Hunter and Tyler. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Stella Romanchuk who resides with her children and whom he helped to care for. He will be dearly missed by all family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6, at 1 p.m. at Mealey Funeral Home in Wilmington where friends are invited to visitation after noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Elizabeth Jones Scott

BERLIN – Elizabeth Jones Scott, age 93, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Berlin Nursing Home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Newark, she was the daughter of the late Norman Jones and Clara Baker Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Scott, Sr.

Scott was a member of Stevenson United Methodist Church in Berlin. She had worked for many years as a waitress at Dick’s Drive In in Ocean City and Raynes Reef in Berlin.

She is survived by three sons, Edward Lee Scott, Jr. of Berlin, Richard William Scott and his wife Ellen of Pittsville, and Norman Frederick "Freddy" Scott and his wife Donna of Berlin; a sister, Betty Ellingsworth of Ocean City; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Gordy, and six brothers, Casey, Herman, Charles, Robert, Andrew and Chester Jones.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8 at 3 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior to the

service. Rev. Jay Hurley will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Aileen P. Lyons

BERLIN – Aileen P. Lyons, age 84, died Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Berlin Nursing Home.

Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Hanlon and Anne Kevin Hanlon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lyons.

Lyons had been an English teacher for many years in the Chappaqua School District in New York. She enjoyed learning foreign languages. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines.

She is survived by a brother, Robert Hanlon and his wife Barbara; a sister-in-law, Catherine Hanlon; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hanlon.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call one hour prior to the

service. Rev. Anthony Pileggi will officiate. Interment will be in Gate of

Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, Del.
