Rada M. Lewis

BERLIN – Rada M. Lewis, 99, of Berlin, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Berlin. 

Lewis was born in Whaleyville, MD and was the daughter of the late Levin T. and the late Louianna (Parker) Jones. 

She had been a steamstress for the former Berlin Shirt Factory and was a poultry grower.

She was a member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. 

She is survived by her daughter, Joretta L. Holland of Berlin; four grandchildren, Janet Miller and her husband Darrell, Deborah Wells and her husband Lester, Robert W. Holland and his wife Carol, and Sandra Ugol and her husband Alan; six great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace E. Lewis in 1966 and eight sisters and one brother.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 at Hastings Funeral Home, Selbyville. Friends may call one hour before the service. Interment will be in Dale Cemetery, Whaleyville .

Arthur H. Griffin Jr.

DAGSBORO, Del. – Arthur H. Griffin Jr. “Butch”, of Dagsboro, Del., passed away on Jan. 4, 2009 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del.

He had been a press operator for Webcraft Printers in Salisbury, Md. and was a deliveryman for Ocean City Services in Ocean Cit. He was a member of the Dagsboro Church of God and was a singles ministry director. He enjoyed reading his bible and fellowship with his family, church family and friends. He was a very devoted son and uncle. He believed in helping people day; and night. His father, Arthur H. Griffin Sr., precedes him in death.

He is survived by his mother Shirley Williams Griffin of Selbyville, Del.; one brother, Gregory Dean Griffin of Bishopville; three nephews, Dean, Thomas and Michael Griffin; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and his long-time church family and many friends.

James B. Pinkowski

BERLIN – James B. “Jim” Pinkowski, 76, of Selbyville and formerly of New Castle, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.

Pinkowski was born in Wilmington, Del. and was the son of the late Bernard and Loretta Brocolli Pinkowski.

He had been the financial controller at St. John Of God School, Westville, N.J.

He and his wife had also owned Jim’s Ceramics in Elsmere, Del. from 1972 to 1978.

He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City. He formerly was the treasurer of AARP Chapter 1917 in Ocean City and the Keenwick Homeowners Assocaition.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Ferrari Pinkowski of Selbyville. He was preceded in death by his son, Steven J. Pinkowski, in 1990.

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John of God Community Services, 1145 Delsea Drive, Westville, New Jersey 08093-2252.

John R. Dick Jr.

MILLSBORO, Del. – John R. Dick Jr. (Jack), soldier, student mechanic, engineer, succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 85.

He attended St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Millsboro, and was retired from Delmarva Power and Light, where he worked as a plant engineer for 24 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, Troop E 94th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron, Mechanized.

His wife of 58 years, Dorothy E. Dick, survives him along with four children, Allee W. Dick, John R. Dick III, Holly S. Ellis, Leslie A. “Lad” Dick; and five grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Kristen, Brandon, and Kaylynn.

He is also survived by his beloved canine friend, “Cocoa”

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at 3 p.m. at All Saints Cemetery, near Harbeson Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Delaware, 130 Academy St. Newark, Del. 19716 or the Boys Scouts of America 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane PO box 152079 Irving Texas, 75015-2079.

Lewis M. Brumberg

SELBYVILLE – Lewis M. Brumberg, 87, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at Salisbury Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Salisbury.

Brumberg was born in Clayton, N.J. and was the son of the late Morris and Edith (Morton) Brumberg.

Brumberg served in the U.S. Army during World War II. A graduate of Temple University, he taught music at the former Selbyville High School and at the Selbyville Middle School for 42 years. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville where he was the church organist and choir director for 50 years. He also was a former member of the Selbyville Rotary Club. He was a very talented musician and had performed with the Tony Villani Orchestra and his own musical group, the L.B. Trio.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth P. “Betty” Brumberg; a son, Lewis M. Brumberg Jr., and his wife Patti of Fenwick Island; a daughter, Rebecca “Becki” Graham of Ocean City; a sister, Joan Brumberg of Clayton, N.J.; and a brother, Samuel Morton of Seattle, Wash. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Angel Bent and her husband Chad and Steven Brumberg, and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Summer Bent.

Beatrice Bunting Megee

BISHOPVILLE – Beatrice Bunting Megee, 88, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, Del.

Born in Bishopville, she was the daughter of the late Jobie and Delphia Gray Bunting.

She was a homemaker and had been involved with the family farm for many years. Over the years, she had also worked at the former Selbyville Manufacturing Company, Selbyville Cleaners and the Bishopville Store. She was a member of the Wilson United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Ocean City Bowling League as well as a member of the Bishopville Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for over 40 years.

She is survived by her son, Glenn “Maggie” Megee and his wife Dianne of Selbyville, Del.; two sisters, Thelma Clogg of Dagsboro, Del. and Patsey Dean of Fort Mill, S.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Her husband, Vernon Megee, preceded her in death in 1974 and two sons, Gene B. Megee in 1977 and Gerald L. Megee in 2003.
