Della ‘Fannie’ Mason

SNOW HILL – Della "Fannie" Mason, beloved wife of Richard "Dick" Mason, died peacefully at Hospice by the Lake on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009.

Born Oct. 13, 1938, her father was Chester Warrington and mother Louise P. Warrington, and she was raised by her grandfather, William Powell, and grandmother, Della Powell.

Dick and Fannie Mason had been married for 47 years and had a great life together. She was a member of the Bates United Methodist Church in Snow Hill. She loved her husband, her family and her friends. She loved music and to dance. Her favorite singer was Elvis and she enjoyed her close friends in the "lunch bunch".

Services were held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coastal Hospice at the Lake, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, Md. 21804. Arrangements by the Burbage Funeral Home.

Frederick Michael Smith

OCEAN PINES – Frederick Michael Smith, age 78, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at his home in Ocean Pines.

Born in York, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl Herbert Smith and Gertrude Flannagan Smith. He is survived by his wife, Janice Marie Smith.

He had worked as a printer compositor for the U.S. Government Printing Office. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines, Columbia Typographical Union #101 and the Democratic National Committee. He enjoyed bowling and golf.

Along with his wife, he is survived by six sons, Michael Edward Smith, Patrick Owen Smith and his wife Jeannie, Allen Gregory Smith, Frederick Michael Smith, Jr., Shawn Anthony Smith and his wife Karen, and Josef Kevin Smith; two daughters, Elaine Marie Mitchell and Theresa Ann Mullen and her husband

Gary; one brother, Earl H. Smith, Jr. and his wife Rose; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Flannagan Smith, in 1996.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 12700 Lanham Severn Rd., Bowie, Md where a wake service will be held at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Md.

Myra Kemp Bishop

BERLIN – Myra Kemp Bishop, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at her home in Berlin.

Born in South Wales, Great Britain, she was the daughter of the late James and Caroline Hughes Kemp. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Bishop, in September of 2008.

Bishop had been a bookkeeper with the Adkins Company and Bill Hall Ford of Berlin for many years. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Berlin where she was a member of the choir.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Bishop Norris and her husband Donald of Herndon, Va., and Geoffrey Charles Bishop and his wife Pam of Berlin. There are three grandchildren, Stephen Norris of Arlington, Va., Brian Norris of Atlanta, Ga. and Kyle Bishop of New Orleans, La.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church. Rev. Mary Jo Dean will officiate. Interment will be private. Donations may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 8648 Stephen Decatur Hwy., Berlin, Md. 21811. Arrangements by the Burbage Funeral Home.

David Barry Givens Jr.

GEORGETOWN, Del. – David Barry Givens Jr. passed away on Jan. 30, 2009.

Givens was a construction worker and a proud member of the local Carpenters Union. He loved hunting and fishing and was a huge Giants fan. He enjoyed stock car racing and going to the local dirt track.

He is survived by his family: daughters Kelsie Ann Givens, Hunter Erin Givens, William E. and Patricia A. Webb Sr. Eddie Webb Jr. and companion Margaret, Tammy L. Long and husband Shane, David and Dee Givens Sr., Christopher Givens, John T. Givens, Elizabeth Givens, beloved aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and a host of special friends.

Services will be private. Arrangements provided by Watson Funeral Home.
