OCPD Hosts First Donut Smackdown at Mayor’s New Year’s Open House

The Ocean City Police Department hosted its first Ocean City “Donut-Smackdown” at the 14th Annual Mayor & City Council Open House on Jan. 1. Layton’s Family Restaurant and the Minit-Market supplied donuts for nearly 400 visitors at City Hall. Guests were asked to make a donation to whichever donut they liked the best. Donations benefited the Law Enforcement Polar Bear Plunge for Maryland Special Olympics. Chief Bernadette DiPino later counted the votes and was shocked to see each establishment raised $126. Above, Minit Market owner Doug Jacobs and Layton’s Family Restaurant owner Larry Layton are pictured with DiPino claiming their prize.
