Hospitality Workshops Planned

OCEAN
CITY – The Economic Development
Committee, the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association, the Greater Ocean
City Chamber of Commerce and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore
Hospitality Training Institute are presenting a series of workshops on Tuesday,
June 8.

With so many
destinations competing for vacationers’ discretionary income, it is crucial
that Ocean City businesses deliver the best guest service possible. Therefore,
these workshops have been designed to “train the trainer” and are specifically
developed for owners, managers and supervisors.

The three workshops
featured are:

Customer
Service Workshop

Why do people keep
coming back to Ocean City? Why do we have some guests that never return?
What can you do about it? There are many reasons why people do or do not return
to our area. Do you know them? Learn the most important things you can do to
keep guests coming back. How do you train your staff to connect to your guests?

Attend this fun and
enlightening program to learn how to personally develop strong ties and
relationships to your valuable customers. Janie Wiltshire started as a desk

clerk and worked her way into the role of general manager. Her power-packed presentation will prepare

you for the summer all fired up. Get ready to deliver service and create
guests for life. Seminar will be held from 9:15-10:30 a.m.

Leadership
Program

Follow the leader is still played today and your business’s employees
are playing it today. What behaviors are they following in you? Are you
creating a team that will help you win? 

This program will enlighten you to what is really going on at your
property today. Listen as a former desk clerk shares her story of what a
manager can do today to make the team really perform. Wake up and smell the
leadership coffee. Your role is strong – hear how to make it even stronger at
this workshop, which will be held from 10:45
a.m.-noon.

Sales
Program

Are you wondering why
you just can’t seem to go to the next level in sales revenue? Have you been
teetering on the sales see-saw and just can’t get it going?

Janie Wiltshire will
deliver a message over that you need to hear now. Now is your chance to get
fired up before you get fired. It’s time for you to step up to the sales
opportunities that your competitors are already taking advantage of. Learn the
five things you can do at your property that will help you increase business
immediately. Stop whining and attend this workshop so you’ll see amazing
results for the balance of 2010. Workshop scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m.

In today’s value and
service economy, the real difference in choosing where to spend vacation
dollars may come down to service, according to Ocean City
Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Executive Director Susan Jones.

“Service is the ultimate
amenity,” Jones said. “It is so important that we have a welcoming attitude.
Employees will follow their leaders’ style, so it is imperative that the
emphasis on service starts from the top.”

The workshops will be
held in the Roland E. Powell Convention Center and will be free of charge for
members of the Ocean City Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association and Chamber of
