Junior Dolphins Advance to Title Game

BERLIN- The unbeaten Berlin Junior Dolphins youth football team picked up in the playoffs where they left off, beating the Salisbury Terps, 27-7, on Monday to advance to the league championship game.

The Junior Dolphins rolled through their regular season schedule, going 8-0, to earn the top seed in the Salvation Army “Red Shield” League playoffs. On Monday, the Dolphins jumped on the Terps early and often on their way to a playoff win in the semifinals and a trip to the championship.

After recovering a Terps fumble on the opening kick-off, the Dolphins punched it in on a three-yard TD run by Tyree Adams for an early 7-0 lead. The Dolphins then forced a three-and-out and drove down the field to score another quick touchdown. The big play came on a 48-yard run by Sam Coates and Justin Meekins took it in on a quarterback keeper for a 14-0 lead.

Salisbury recovered and cut the lead to 14-7, but Berlin went on another methodical drive topped off by a 25-yard up the middle by Coates for a 21-7 lead. Meekins finished the scoring for Berlin with another TD run and the game ended 27-7. With the win, Berlin advances to the league championship game next week against an undetermined opponent.
