Locals Earn Washington College Honors

BERLIN- Two former standout local high school athletes were recognized for their exploits at Washington College this week with All-Conference honors in their respective sports.

Former Worcester Prep Mallard Reno Smith, now a senior at Washington College, was named this week’s Shoreman of the Week after helping his crew win their second straight Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) championship. Smith, who was in the seven seat on the varsity eight for Washington College last weekend, was also named to the All-MARC varsity team. The Shoremen won the MARC championship with 58 total points. Smith and the rest of the varsity eight won their race by nearly 10 seconds, finishing in 6:02:3 and coming in ahead of second-place Rutgers.

Former Seahawk Kylie Nottingham, now a freshman at Washington College, was named to the All-Centennial Conference team in her first season. Nottingham batted .365 with team-bests of six home runs and 33 RBIs. Her 33 RBIs set a new single season record at Washington College. Nottingham led the team with a .627 slugging percentage and was second on the team with a .434 on-base percentage and second with 79 total bases.
