BERLIN- Worcester Prep is hosting its Fighting Mallard Boys Lacrosse Camp for five days next week as part of a summer-long series of camps for sports and other activities.
Worcester Prep Coach Kevin Gates, recently named Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) Coach of the Year, will host the camp next week at Worcester Prep for boys entering grades 5-9 in September. Joining Gates, who has coached lacrosse at nearly every level, will be several former players including Matt Heiderman (’03), Chris Mancini (’03), Garvey Heiderman (’05), Payton Kulina (’06), Travis Gregory (’07), Christian Coates (’08) and Christian Payne (’08), to name a few.
The camp will help players develop the fundamental skills necessary to succeed in the game. The drills are designed to improve basics such as stick handling, dodges, face-offs, passing, shooting, clearing, rides and goal play. There will be individual and team drills culminating with a final scrimmage. The camp will be held at Worcester Prep next Monday, July 11 through Friday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.
