New Community Breaks Ground

MILLSBORO, Del. — Lennar has broken ground on townhomes its Millsboro community, Plantation Lakes, and is set to begin construction on a state-of-the-art pool and clubhouse in September with townhomes ready for move-in as early as November. The construction of single-family homes began in April and several are ready for immediate occupancy.

Conveniently located near the Delmarva beaches and Ocean City, Lennar’s Plantation Lakes gives homeowners a chance at affordable coastal living with townhomes starting as low as the $100s and single-family homes from the $200s. In addition to enjoying the community’s proximity to the coast, residents at Plantation Lakes can also take advantage of the low property taxes and lack of sales tax afforded by the community’s Delaware location.

Single-family homes in Plantation Lakes offer just over 2,000 up to 2,400 square feet of living space with three or four bedrooms, two or two and a half bathrooms and a two-car garage in addition to a full basement. Both townhome collections in Plantation Lakes feature three-story home plans. The Bellhaven collection offers two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms in just over 1,200 square feet of living space with a one-car garage while the Kentwell collection features three bedrooms and two and two half bathrooms in more than 2,100 square feet with a two-car garage.

Making Lennar’s newest Delaware community even more affordable, Plantation Lakes qualifies for 100 percent USDA financing through a government-insured loan program that encourages home ownership in predominantly rural areas.

Radio Station GM Named

PRINCESS ANNE – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has named a new general manager for its public radio station.

Stephen A. Williams moves into the top management post at WESM 91.3 FM, a professionally-staffed NPR affiliate serving lower Delmarva, Southern Maryland and the Northern Neck of Virginia.

Williams joined WESM in 2006 as news and public affairs director and most recently as interim general manager.

“The past five years for me have been formative,” Williams said. “Fortunately, the previous general manager really encouraged and prepared me for the position. Also, WESM’s staff has been tremendously supportive.”

Williams, a University of New Hampshire graduate, spent two years in Cameroon as a Peace Corps volunteer — an experience which he says left a deep impression on him.

“I learned of the importance of radio in the developing world,” says Williams. “Most of the world relies on radios for important news, education and information. And during emergencies when TVs, computers and phones won’t work, radio is still the one source people can rely upon for critical information. It remains the most powerful medium around the world.”
