Cecilia Higgins
SELBYVILLE — Cecilia “Ce” Higgins, age 87, of Selbyville and formerly of Brookland, Washington, D.C. died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin. Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Sydney and Ethel May Hanreck.
During World War II, Cecilia served as a corporal with the Royal Air Force Women’s Auxiliary from 1941 to 1944 based in Medmenham, England. She married the late Hugh F. Higgins of Washington, D.C. and they moved to Selbyville in 1979.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City and the Fenwick Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ron, and sister, Edna.
She is survived by her sons, Lee Higgins (Diana) of Kent, Ohio and Timothy Higgins (Wendy) of Rock Cave, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Michael Higgins (Anne) of Edina, Minn.; Christopher Higgins (Megan) of Columbus, Ohio; Julie Aylsworth (Greg) of Springfield, OH; Allison Hood (David) of Oxford, England; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a nephew, Wayne Gordon of Bournemouth, England.
Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City. Burial will be in Bishopville Cemetery.

Ronald James Dieter Sr.
BERLIN — Ronald James Dieter Sr., 70, of Berlin, passed away on Oct. 30 2011 after an 18-month struggle with cancer.
Born on Nov. 29, 1940, in Baltimore, to Rosa and Henry Dieter, he was married to Charlotte Reedy Dieter for 49 years. He is survived by his brother, Bill, of Baltimore City, and was preceded in death by his three sisters and three brothers.
He retired from Patapsco & Back River Railroad in 2000. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, helping at his church, Bethany Methodist, and interacting with his many friends.
He is survived by three sons, Clay of Florida, Bernard and his wife Renee who reside in Pennsylvania and Ronald Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Harford County, Md.
He is further survived by 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren who were very special to him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Nov. 12, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, located at 8648 Stephen Decatur Highway in Berlin. Friends will be welcomed after the service in the church fellowship hall.
