Baby Ava Weekend Comes To Ocean City

OEAN CITY — Baby Ava’s Ocean City Beach Weekend kicks off Friday and continues through the weekend with proceeds benefiting the DelRicco family and on its ongoing expenses with Ava’s recovery.

Back in December, then 18-month-old Ava DelRicco and her mother, Ann Marie, were rear-ended on Coastal Highway by a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Both were immediately hospitality and Ava DelRicco spent several months recovery from her injuries. Although home now, Ava is still facing many challenges as a result of that accident.

That’s where the idea for a beach weekend to help Ava and her family came about. Here’s a look at the featured activities this weekend.

Friday, June 15  

From 4-8 p.m., A Welcome to Ocean City Social will be held at Coconuts Beach Bar and Grill at the Castle in the Sand Hotel, featuring live music with Darin Engh and a sampling of Ocean City restaurants. A kid-friendly atmosphere will be offered with a charity dunk tank, games and a dusk bonfire. Admission is free with a donation accepted at the door.

Team Ava After Hours at 9 p.m. at the Skye Bar at Galaxy 66 on 66th Street in Ocean City. Donation of $20 gets you complimentary Pink Ava drinks and select adult beverages till 11 p.m.

The donation also enters you in the drawing for a chauffeured limousine night on the town for you and 10 friends with assorted appetizers and stocked bar courtesy of Galaxy 66, Late Night Liquors and Lovin’ Life Limos.

Saturday, June 16

Beginning at 11 a.m., the Ava DelRicco Charity Golf Event will take place with golfers from all over the Mid-Atlantic region participating in a modified scramble event.

Thousands of dollars in prizes for the winning foursome as well as a chipping and putting contest with a chance to win a brand new car. The event will take place at River Run Golf Course near Ocean Pines and is sure to be a sellout. Call 410-250-4900 if still interested in playing. Cost is $125 per player or $500 for foursome. Single players will be assigned a team. Sign up forms can be picked up at Crabcake Factory USA in Ocean City.

There will be a discount family day for the non-golfers including pizza discounts at Johnny’s Pizza, bowling, miniature golf and amusements. Honorary starter is Hall of Fame Coach Charles “Lefty” Driesell.

At 7 p.m., a golf awards and silent auction event will be held at the Carousel on 118th Street and the beach.

Join organizers as they present the winners from the day’s golf event as well as the drawing for the Ava DelRicco raffle. The Carousel will feature free ice skating for the kids as well as entertainment at the beachfront pool and bar areas.

 Team Ava Merchandise will be available and catering will be provided by Crabcake Factory USA, featuring a Maryland meets New Orleans theme. Admission is free to the public with donations made at door.

Sunday June, 17
Sunday Fun Day at 45th Street Taphouse starts at noon.

Downtown OC’s Newest outdoor waterfront restaurant welcomes Team Ava. Join them on the water for a casual day with live entertainment from Dave Sherman, clowns and balloons for the kids. A special beer tasting from Burley Oak Brewery will be featured.

At 5 p.m., the raffle drawing will be held at the Crabcake Factory USA at the Royal Palms on 120th Street oceanside. Drawing takes place at 6 p.m.
