Banker Recognized

BERLIN — Calvin B. Taylor Banking Company President and CEO Raymond M. Thompson has announced the recognition of Reese F. Cropper Jr. for 50 years of continuing service to the bank. Cropper joined Calvin B. Taylor Bank in 1962. He later became president, succeeding his father, Reese F. Cropper Sr.

He is currently chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank and its holding company, Calvin B. Taylor Bankshares, Inc., and chairman of the Executive Committee of the bank. Submitted Photos

Hospital Head Honored

SALISBURY — For a second time, Peninsula Regional Medical Center President/CEO Dr. Peggy Naleppa has been named among Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Naleppa was also chosen for the award in 2011.

Created by The Daily Record, a Baltimore-based business newspaper, the award recognizes the outstanding achievements of professional women who work or reside in Maryland. 2013 marks the 18th year that the award has been given. Over 500 nominations were reviewed by this year’s selection committee.

“During the past nine years, I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the far reaching impact of Dr. Naleppa’s professional, community and compassionate leadership,” wrote Kathleen Momme, Executive Director of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore in her nomination letter. “She is the perfect personification of a Maryland mentor for professional expertise, community leadership and personal sacrifice for the good of all.” Momme was also selected as a 2013 recipient of the same honor.

Naleppa, who has served as PRMC’s President/CEO since January of 2010, is responsible for the leadership of not only the 317-bed Salisbury hospital, but additionally the Peninsula Regional Health System. She provides executive oversight of Peninsula Regional’s current Strategic Plan which focuses on, among other driving strategies, increasing physician numbers, advancing clinical and technological capabilities, evolving clinical integration of services, promoting an environment of patient-centered care and expanding ambulatory services, like the new Delmarva Health Pavilion currently under construction in Millsboro, Del. and slated for an opening later this summer.

Service Award Presented

WILLARDS — Laura Deeley Bren, President of Atlantic/Smith, Cropper & Deeley, recently presented Kiesha Lankford with the Top Customer Service Award for 2012 at the company’s annual meeting in Ocean City. Lankford is a claims manager for the firm and was acknowledged for her outstanding work during Hurricane Sandy as well as “above and beyond” service handling for other claims throughout the year.

Bank Appointment

BERLIN – Shore Bank President and Chief Executive Officer W. Thomas Mears announced that John R. Schroeder has joined the Shore Bank’s commercial banking team in Rehoboth Beach, Del. as Senior Vice President-Commercial Banking, reporting to James D. Barr, Delaware Market President for Shore Bank.

Schroeder brings over 35 years of experience in commercial lending in southern Delaware and surrounding areas.

"We are very pleased to welcome John to our team. He brings a proven track record, deep knowledge of the markets in the Delaware region, and decades of experience across all aspects of commercial real estate finance, including origination, underwriting, structuring, and servicing," Mears said.

Prior to joining Shore Bank, Schroeder served as Senior Vice President with Applied Bank in Rehoboth Beach, Del. From 1994 to 2009, he served as a Vice-President and commercial relationship manager with PNC and its predecessors, Baltimore Trust and Mercantile Peninsula Bank. Schroeder was a Regional Vice President Second National Federal Savings Bank in the Delaware markets from 1984 to 1994. Prior to that, he began his banking career as a Branch Manager for Sussex Trust Company.
