Seahawks Top Pocomoke To Improve To 10-1

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's varsity baseball team hammered visiting county rival Pocomoke, 13-3, on Tuesday to improve to 10-1 on the season. The Seahawks got out to an early 7-3 lead but the outcome was still very much in question until the bottom of the fourth inning when Decatur batted around and scored four runs to extend the lead to 11-3. With bases loaded and just one out, Kyle Pruitt laced a single to left center scoring two runs to push the lead to 9-3. The next Decatur batter...READ MORE

Towson Inks Another Seahawk Lax Player

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN - Another standout girls' lacrosse player from Stephen Decatur High School will take her game to the next level as senior captain Katie Priestley yesterday signed a letter of intent to play at Towson University. In a Decatur women's lacrosse program profile, Priestley's favorite quote is 'Live the phrase the sky's the limit,' and the sentiment does not appear to be truer for the Seahawk senior. A four-year starter on a respected girls lacrosse program, Priestley excels on the...READ MORE

Mallards thump Colonel Richardson, 19-11; Face Decatur on Monday

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN- Worcester Prep's girl's varsity lacrosse team got back to the .500 mark this week, thrashing visiting Colonel Richardson, 19-11, on Tuesday to pull even at 4-4 with a pair of games against conference rival Salisbury School and neighborhood rival Stephen Decatur looming. The Mallards used a goal-scoring flurry, led by Alexandra Smith, near the end of the first half to pull away from the Colonels after a fairly even first period. Worcester led 7-4 with about 10 minutes remaining...READ MORE

Beach Lax Wins Fourth Straight

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN- Beach Lacrosse's under-13 boys' team won its fourth straight last weekend, beating Kent County, 7-1, behind a stingy defense and an efficient offense. Kent County got on the board first with an early goal to take a 1-0 lead, but would not score again against Beach's tough defense led by Michael Murray. Meanwhile, the Beach offense was clicking on all cylinders, set up by a dominating performance on face-offs. Andrew Ternahan, Alec Zarif and Johnny Moore each scored in the first...READ MORE

Up and Down Week for Seahawks

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's men's varsity lacrosse team had an up-and-down week this week, falling to rival Parkside, 9-8, in double overtime on Monday, before venting some frustration on North Caroline with a 22-3 win on Tuesday. Decatur's record on the season now stands at 6-2, with the only two losses coming to old nemesis Parkside. The Seahawks lost to the Rams, 13-7, back on April 10 and fell again this week in a heartbreaking double-overtime loss. The Seahawks wasted little time...READ MORE

Former Seahawk Pitches Perfect Game

Published April 27, 2007
BERLIN- Former Stephen Decatur standout Mike Castrignano pitched a perfect game for Delaware Tech-Owens in a 1-0 victory over Catonsville Community College last weekend for the first such effort in the school's 18 year history. Castrignano, who dominated on the mound and at the plate during his career at Decatur, faced the minimum in Del Tech's win over Catonsville, retiring all 27 batters he faced without yielding a hit or a walk. He also struck out seven during the perfect game, the...READ MORE
