OC Season Starts With A Bang

June 01, 2007 - Editorial
All indications point to a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in the Ocean City area, and that's good news for a business community that reported a slower off-season than usual. As is the case with any weekend, there are some businesses that reported outstanding sales, while others who say it was on par with last year's and even some that report it was not as good. Mixed reviews are commonplace when ascertaining business success. However, it's easy to report most businesses said the weekend capped...READ MORE

Ocean City Council members will decide next week whether to fund a new position within the Ocean City Police Department. Officials heard this week from a number of different law enforcement agencies on the benefits of a crime analyst post, which is strictly charged with identifying and analyzing data to determine trends in crime. OCEAN CITY - Soaring gasoline prices at the pumps certainly did not curtail the number of visitors to the resort last weekend, as evidenced by the largest estimated Memorial Day crowd in over 10 years, but the rising cost of fuel in the area marinas could start having an impact on what the hundreds of thousands of visitors to Ocean City do when they get to the resort. Gasoline prices are flirting with the $3 per gallon mark on the streets, but the time-honored wisdom is the resort does well in...READ MORE

OC Makes Tax Differential Issue A Legislative Priority
