Tie's the Limit for Seahawks

9/26/2008 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- For the second time in a week, Stephen Decatur's men's varsity soccer team played to a tie, ending it match with Washington at a 3-3 draw after two overtime periods.

The Seahawks went on the road on Monday to face a suddenly tough Washington team and came away without a win or a loss for the second time in a week. The two teams battled for 80 minutes of regulation and two overtime periods, but the contest ended in a 3-3 tie. Dylan Post led the Seahawks with two goals and Evan Tomasello added a third, but Washington answered with three goals of their own.

Kyle Gebhart collected two assists in the game and the Seahawks duo in the goal, Andrew Wagner and Dan Cericola, combined for seven saves. Last week, the Seahawks played Kent Island to a 1-1 tie, and after five games, Decatur now has as many ties as wins, but only one loss on the season.

The Seahawks started the season with two big shutout wins including a 6-0 win over Kent County in what turned out to be the season opener. Decatur then beat St. Michael's, 5-0, in the second game of the season before the 1-1 tie with Kent Island. Decatur lost to Wicomico, 2-1, last week and tied Washington, 3-3, on Monday. The Seahawks record now stands at 2-1-2.
