Decatur Boys Drop Pair to Start Season

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's varsity basketball team dropped its first two games of the 2008-2009 season this week, but already the team has shown signs of heading in the right direction. BERLIN- Despite a couple of rallies to cut their deficit on Tuesday, Worcester Prep's girls' varsity basketball team fell to Seaford Christian, 43-31, to drop their fifth straight game to start the season. The Mallards hung with the Eagles for the most part on Tuesday, matching them point for point during several stretches of the game, but a couple of prolonged scoring droughts proved the be their undoing. BERLIN- Worcester Prep's boys' varsity basketball team rebounded from one of its most lopsided losses in recent memory this week with a 41-24 win over visiting Seaford Christian on Tuesday. The see-saw early season continued this week for the young Mallards, whose record now stands at 2-3 after the first week. Seahawk Swimmers Excel in 1st Meet

BERLIN- In its first ever meet as an officially sanctioned program, the Stephen Decatur High School varsity swim team had mixed results this week with the girls' team defeating Easton, 54-40, and the boys' team falling to the Warriors, 57-28. Decatur began the program last year on a trial basis as a club team after students at the school expressed an interest in competing as a swim team. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur's varsity wrestling team enjoyed another great weekend hosting the 7th Annual War on the Shore Tournament last week, finishing seventh as a team out of the field of 25 of some of best high school programs in the mid-Atlantic region and placing several individual wrestlers in their respective weight classes.
