Motorist Killed In 113 Crash

7/10/2009 | By News Editor, Shawn J. Soper

SNOW HILL - A local man was killed and another man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 113 on Tuesday morning just north of Snow Hill.

Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Maryland State Police troopers responded to an area of Route 113 near Public Landing Rd. just north of Snow Hill for a reported motor vehicle collision involving injuries. The investigation revealed a 1998 Ford Econoline van driven by Wilbur Peter Glogovics, 52, of Pocomoke, had collided with a 1998 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Michael Anthony Hance, 52, of Catonsville, in the southbound lane of Route 113.

Glogovics was pronounced dead at the scene, while Hance refused medical treatment and was released at the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed Glogovics failed to drive to the right of center and collided with the tractor-trailer. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, the Worcester County Special Hazards Response Team responded to the scene and assisted the Snow Hill Fire Department clean-up efforts at the scene. The tractor-trailer was leaking gas from both of its 100-gallon saddle tanks. The Special Hazard Response Team was able to offload the leaking fuel into drums to prevent further contamination in the ditch.
