7/24/2009 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department will host its first-ever wrestling camp during the first week of August and will have a high profile coach on hand to serve as the camp's director.

The town's Recreation and Parks Department is excited to be offering its first wrestling camp ever under the direction of University of Maryland Coach Kerry McCoy. The camp is scheduled for the week of August 3-6 at Northside Park in Ocean City from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.

Before coming to Maryland, McCoy coached three seasons at Stanford, where he transformed the Cardinal into a national contender.  He led them to a 19th-place finish at the NCAA championship. McCoy was also a two time Olympian for the United States and took fifth place at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia and seventh in 2004 in Athens. The camp is for boys and girls, ages 8-18.  It will be held at Northside Park August 3-6 from 4:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.  For more information, please visit the website at www.ocsportscamps.com or call (410) 250-0125.
