BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity wrestling team wrapped up the first segment of its 2010-2011 campaign on a high note last week, beating Patuxent and Wicomico in a dual meet to finish with a perfect 6-0 mark going into the holiday break.

BERLIN- Last weekend’s snowstorm forced the cancellation of the annual John Coleman Tournament, which was scheduled to be hosted by the Stephen Decatur girls’ varsity basketball team this week.

BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team upheld it end of the bargain on the first day of the inaugural Governor’s Challenge this week, beating Woodbridge, 50-47, for one of just three wins by Maryland teams on Day One.

BERLIN- Twisters Gymnastics enjoyed a big day at the 6th Annual Beach Party Invitational it hosted recently at its facility in Berlin, winning the championship in two levels and finishing second in four others.
Twisters won the team championship in both Level 2 and Level 5, while finishing second in levels 3, 4, 6 and 7. The Twisters also collected several individual championships during the meet, which featured over 80 gymnasts from all over the region.

Stephen Decatur girls’ varsity soccer standout Leigh Ann Flounlacker was honored last week by the Worcester County Board of Education for earning the Bayside Conference Player of the Year award after the 2010 season. Flounlacker was outstanding again this season, recording 197 saves, bringing her career total to 564. Flounlacker will take her A game to Elizabeth College next year after finishing her senior year.
