OCEAN CITY- The resort area’s collective hangover from last week’s White Marlin Open has just about worn off in time for the next big event on the summer sportfishing calendar- the Mid-Atlantic $500,000, a Cape May, N.J.-based tournament that will again have a strong presence in Ocean City again this year.

OCEAN CITY- Despite a relatively slow start, the 38th Annual White Marlin Open in Ocean City last week lived up to the hype in the end with a first-place white marlin waiting at the scale when it opened for business on the last day and a massive blue marlin, the one and only weighed during the tournament, hauled in on the second-to-last day.

The Delmarva Elite Lacrosse Sharks, an under-15 team made up of local players from the Ocean City, Berlin and Salisbury areas, late last month went undefeated to win the prestigious Hershey Laxfest Championship in Pennsylvania. Led by goalie Sam Ash and the defense, the team allowed only 10 goals in five games during the tournament. The Sharks also placed 5th in the annual Dick’s Sporting Goods Atlantic Cup earlier this summer.
