BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity volleyball team overcame a couple of big runs by visiting Easton on Monday to edge the Warriors in five sets and remain unbeaten on the young season.
Decatur dropped the first match against Easton on Monday, 25-23, before rebounding with a decisive 25-13 win in the second set behind long service point runs by Hallee Carr and Casey Ortiz. In the third set, Decatur cruised to the 25-11 win, led by Abigail Hastings and Amy Chase, to go up 2-1.
However, Easton recovered in the fourth set, again winning 25-23, after the Seahawks rallied to tie the set at 18-18. In the decisive fifth set, the Seahawks edged the pesky Warriors, 16-14, led by Ortiz and Taylor Black. The tense win improved Decatur’s early season record to 3-0.
