BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity volleyball team passed a big early season test this week, sweeping Bayside South rival Bennett in three games on Monday to remain unbeaten on the season. Something had to give when the unbeaten Seahawks faced the also unbeaten Clippers at home on Monday. BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team scored two goals about two minutes apart early in the second half on Monday to beat visiting Greenwood Mennonite, 3-1, to improve to 6-1 on the season. Both teams scored single goals in the first half, which ended in a 1-1 tie. The score remained tied through the early minutes of the second half before the Mallards scored two goals just two minutes apart. BERLIN- The Berlin Junior Dolphins of the Salvation Army Red Shield League improved to 2-1 this season with a resounding 32-13 win over the Salisbury Black Knights on Tuesday. After the defense forced an early turnover, Berlin’s offense scored first on a 44-yard touchdown run by K.J. Purnell. Coastal Lax Free Clinics Set

WEST OCEAN CITY- The Coastal Lacrosse Club is hosting the first in a series of free clinics for young players in the area this Sunday, October 2, at the club’s practice facility on Route 611 in West Ocean City. The club will host three free clinics for children ages 6-14 this fall starting with the first on Sunday. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s men’s varsity soccer team continued its domination thus far this season on Tuesday with a 7-0 rout of Worcester County rival Pocomoke to improve to 6-0 on the season. Decatur got ahead of the Warriors early and continued to apply the pressure all day, rarely allowing Pocomoke to make any substantial offensive threats. BERLIN- The first-ever Savage Mud Splash, a three-plus mile race over, under and through mud-soaked obstacles on a course laid out on a farm in Berlin gets underway tomorrow. The first annual Savage Mud Splash is the brainchild of OC Tri Running, the same fitness organization the promotes several other races in and around Worcester County, including the annual half marathon each spring.
