WEST OCEAN CITY- Based on the overwhelming turnout and the success of the program last weekend, the Coastal Lacrosse Club is hosting the second in a series of free clinics for young players in the area this Sunday, October 9, at the club’s practice facility on Route 611 in West Ocean City. The club will host the second of three free clinics for children ages 6-14 this fall this Sunday. BERLIN- Lightning struck twice for the Stephen Decatur varsity football team last weekend after the Seahawks beat Queen Anne’s, 34-31, in overtime to end the Lions’ 37-game regular season winning streak. Queen Anne’s last lost a regular season game back in 2007 and had run off 37 straight since then. BERLIN- The Berlin Cadet Dolphins got their first win of the season this week, upsetting the unbeaten Wicomico Green Terrors, 18-12, in double overtime on Tuesday. Last November, the two teams met for the Salvation Army Red Shield League championship. This week, the Berlin Cadet Dolphins entered the rematch with Wicomico winless in three games, while the Green Terrors came in with a 3-0 record. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity golf team closed the gap with conference leading Parkside on Tuesday, shooting a team-low 166, to edge the Rams (169) and the rest of the field in a match at Ocean Pines. Decatur got solid scores from up and down its line-up at Ocean Pines on Tuesday, led by Nikki Rafer, who shot a 39 and shared the co-medalist award with Parkside’s Matt Stitcher, who also shot a 39. BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity soccer team got back on the winning track this week, beating Eastern Shore Independence Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Salisbury School, 4-0, on the road on Tuesday to improve to 4-2. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity soccer team ran into a buzz saw on Monday, falling to unbeaten Parkside, 5-0, at home to fall to 4-3-1 on the season. Parkside entered the game unbeaten, having outscored their opponents by a combined 42-2 during an seven-game winning streak to start the season. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity soccer team remained unbeaten this week with a pair of wins over Mardela last Friday and a 3-1 over Crisfield on Tuesday to improve to 8-0 on the season. The 6-0 win over Mardela last Friday was the Seahawks’ fourth shutout of the year and third in a row. On Tuesday, Decatur got by a pesky Crisfield team, beating the Crabbers, 3-1. BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boys’ varsity soccer team continued its winning ways this week, beating Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Salisbury School, 4-2, on Tuesday.
