BERLIN- The Stephen Decatur and Worcester Prep varsity golf teams renewed their friendly neighborhood rivalry last week with the first leg of the “Battle of Berlin Challenge Cup” with the Seahawks winning three of the four matches, or points.
The first leg of the challenge, played last Thursday at the Ocean City Golf Club, was a two-person scramble with Decatur winning three of the four matches. Decatur’s Joe Iacona and Chase Eslin defeated Worcester’s Patrick Dowling and Derek Wilgus, 3-2; Seahawks Nikki Rafer and Audrey Affelder beat Worcester’s Scott Gee and Rylie Doyle, 3-1; and Decatur’s Andrew Urban and Matt Ruggiere defeated Billy Brittingham and Jim Engel, 3-1. In Worcester’s win, Matt Middleton and Josh Moyer defeated Decatur’s Delaney Iacona and Chris Barschow.
