OCEAN CITY- Ocean City’s own Mike Hedlesky turned in a strong performance at the Maryland State Powerlifting Championships last weekend, winning several individual honors and collecting three new state records.
Hedlesky, who has been powerlifting for a while but has battled injuries recently, competed in the state championships in Laurel, Md. last Saturday for the first time in the raw super-heavyweight division and won best lifter and best lifter by body weight coefficient to 280 pounds....

BERLIN- The 3rd Annual Reindeer Run 5K, sponsored by Live Long Fitness, is set to return tomorrow, December 17 with an early morning start time through downtown Berlin.
The annual race, which has become a fixture on the local holiday schedule since its inception three years ago, starts and finishes at the Atlantic Hotel with the course winding its way through the heart of the downtown area. BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity basketball team beat Mardela, 69-51, on Tuesday to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
The Seahawks’ record now stands at 2-1 on the year after a pair of wins against Bayside Conference foes. Decatur beat North Dorchester, 69-55, in the season opener on the road last Tuesday. Last Thursday, Decatur lost to Bayside South rival Bennett, 65-55, at home as Drakar Purnell led the Seahawks with 15 points.

BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s girls’ varsity basketball team lost a tough one this week, falling to visiting Salisbury Christian, 43-16, on Monday at home.
The Mallards played well for the most part on Monday, but was clearly overmatched by the much bigger Jaguars.
