OCEAN PINES -- The Ocean Pines Association last week awarded Waste Management of Maryland an exclusive three-year agreement for curbside collection of household garbage and single-stream recycling for residential properties in the community.
Starting next week, Waste Management will start twice per week garbage collection, and every-other-week recycling service will be phased in over the next couple months. Starting today, every resident of Ocean Pines interested in continuing or establishing curbside trash collection with recycling service will need to sign up for a new account with WM by visiting www.wmcurbside.com or calling 800-834-2805. Additionally, representatives will be on-site at the Ocean Pines Community Center in the East Room next Wednesday, Jan. 4 through Friday, Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. to assist residents in creating their new accounts.
“We are excited to announce that for a total cost of $15.40 per month, which is less than we are paying now for garbage pick-up only, we have included curbside single-stream recycling,” said OPA General Manager Bob Thompson. “Residents have been asking us to add recycling for some time. This is a great step forward for our community to “go-green” and to help reduce our carbon footprint.”
