St. Luke Parish Meets Giving Tree Goal

1/06/2012 | By The Dispatch Staff

The Social Action Committee of St. Luke Parish in Ocean City has been sponsoring a Giving Tree for the past 11 years, obtaining names of families in need from schools in the Ocean City and Berlin area. This year’s goal was met once again with overwhelming generosity thanks to the parish’s generosity. In 2009, 45 families were presented to us, including 114 children. Approximately 422 gift tags for food cards, clothing and toys were created. In 2010, there were 58 families (121 children) and a total of 543 tags were hung on the tree. This year, 75 families (144 children) and 625 ornaments were made. The local chapter of the Knights of Columbus #9053 also donated 24 jackets to the program. Submitted Photos
