BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s varsity basketball teams hit a mid-season mini-slump this week back-to-back losses by both teams.
After beating Snow Hill in overtime last week, the Decatur girls have lost two straight to tough Bayside South opponents. The Seahawks fell to Parkside last Thursday, 46-42, and followed that up with a 45-32 loss to Bennett on Tuesday. In the loss to Bennett, Monique Wise led Decatur with seven points and 19 rebounds. Katie Purnell and Erin Florek also scored seven points each.
Meanwhile, the Decatur boys followed a similar pattern this week. After a big win over Snow Hill, the Seahawks lost to Parkside, 73-60, then fell to Bennett, 82-60, on Tuesday. Drakar Purnell led the Seahawks with 22 points against Bennett.
