OCEAN CITY- The resort area last weekend became ground zero for youth lacrosse with scores of teams and hundreds of players from the top youth programs in the country descending on Ocean City and Berlin for the annual Beach Lax Splash Tournaments.

Hosted by the Beach Lacrosse program, in conjunction with Warrior and the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department, the event was essentially two tournaments held simultaneously with the girls’ only tournament at Northside Park and the boys’ tournament held at various venues around northern Worcester County.

Games were played practically around the clock at all of the venues for three days, culminating with championship games in the various divisions on Sunday. In the girls’ tournament at Northside Park, the Yellow Jackets from Long Island took the High School Division, the M&D 17 Black won the Senior “A” Division, the Yellow Jackets won the Senior “B” Division, M&D 18 Black won the Junior “A” Division, Turf Island won the Junior “B” Division, the LTRC Leprechauns won the Lightning Division and Catonsville won the Tykers Division.

In the boys’ tournament, Club Blue beat Crofton in the 13-14A bracket championship and Club Blue also beat Dark Horse in the 13-14B bracket.
