OCEAN CITY- The resort area last weekend became ground zero for youth lacrosse with scores of teams and hundreds of players from the top youth programs in the country descending on Ocean City and Berlin for the annual Beach Lax Splash Tournaments.
Hosted by the Beach Lacrosse program, in conjunction with Warrior and the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department, the event was essentially two tournaments held simultaneously with the girls’ only tournament at Northside Park and the boys’ tournament held at various venues around northern Worcester County.
Games were played practically around the clock at all of the venues for three days, culminating with championship games in the various divisions on Sunday. The girls’ tournament in Ocean City was played in its entirety, while the championship games in some of the boys’ divisions were washed out by thunderstorms late Sunday afternoon.
