Seaside Dance Scores Big in Regional Event

BERLIN- The Seaside Dance Academy last week attended the JUMP dance convention in Washington, D.C. and returned with several individual honors along with a few scholarships to a similar event in New York City this summer.

JUMP is an international dance company that offers a competitive setting for regional studios such as Seaside, along with a weekend full of workshops taught by nationally acclaimed dance professionals. Seaside Dance Academy sent several dancers to compete and returned with numerous high score awards. In addition, many Seaside dancers were awarded scholarships for a national competition and convention in NYC this summer.

For example, Macy Layton was awarded first place in the mini top solo category, while Layton and Jenna Dolan took first place in the mini top duo category. Kendal Snyder took second place in the junior top solo category, while Snyder and Corey Van Sice took first place in the junior top duo category. Snyder and Kathryn O’Malley took second place in the junior top duo category, while the team of Kate Burkett and Haley Wolfersburger took third place in the ten top duo category.

Scholarships for the national convention in New York this summer went to O’Malley, Snyder, Layton and George Brous. Individual class scholarships went to Van Sice, Dolan and Emma Carey.
