Decatur Boosters Tourney Sets New Record

6/29/2012 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- The Stephen Decatur High School Athletic Boosters Club’s 13th annual golf tournament last week was a huge success with the number of participants sold out and a new tournament record of funds raised for the school’s sports programs.

The Decatur Athletic Boosters last Tuesday held their 13th annual golf tournament fundraiser at Eagle’s Landing with a sold out field of 144 golfers competing. The players enjoyed near perfect weather, perfect playing conditions, excellent food and hospitality. The Boosters this week thanked the golfers, the sponsors, the golf course employees and volunteers for helping raise a new tournament record $21,600, which will be used to purchase athletic equipment for any of Decatur’s 19 sports programs in need.

For the record, the foursome of Dan Parker, Chris Carroll, Chris McLoota and Brian Taylor took first-place gross with a 56. First-place net went to the team of Stephen Barrett, Curtis Macomber, Greg Kinsey and Chris Carbaugh with a 54.22. Second-place net with a 54.7 went to Matt Ruggiere, Andrew Urban, Delaney Iacona and Joe Iacona.
