BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team improved to 2-0 early in the season, beating Bayside South rival Parkside, 13-8, in front of the big home crowd.
After cruising past Cambridge-South Dorchester, 11-1, in the season opener last Wednesday, the Seahawks had to regroup quickly for their early season matchup with perhaps their biggest rival, Parkside, on Friday. Last year, Decatur fell to Parkside, 12-7, in the last regular season game of the year to relinquish its spot atop the Bayside South standings, then lost a coin flip to the Rams to determine the regular season champion.
Last Friday, the Seahawks left nothing to chance at home against the Rams, building a big early lead and cruising to their second win of the season. Decatur led 11-3 late in the third quarter and hung on to take the 13-8 win and establish itself as the early favorite in the Bayside South.
