BERLIN- Worcester Prep's boys' varsity soccer team breezed past old rival Salisbury School, 4-0, on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) tournament to earn another date in the championship game.
The Mallards scored early on a goal by Andrew Ternahan off an assist from Michael Dayton-Jones to take a 1-0 lead on the Dragons, but could not pull away. The first half ended with Worcester leading 1-0 and the outcome was still very much in doubt.
With just over eight minutes gone in the second half, Worcester's Matt Carey fired a heard shot in the corner of the Salisbury goal to extend the lead to 2-0. Ternahan got his second goal of the game at the 23:41 mark in the second half on an unsettled situation to make it 3-0. Finally, it was Carey scoring again at the 13:25 mark on a one-on-one situation after a breakaway to round out the scoring at 4-0. With the win, the Mallards advance to the ESIAC finals where they will take on Salisbury Christian this afternoon at home.
