Three Teams Share Flag League Lead

11/04/2011 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department’s Fall Flag Football League standings grew tighter this week with three teams now sharing the lead.

Buxy’s Salty Dog, FOP Lodge 10 and the Eastside Mafia are all bunched at the top of the standings with identical 5-2 records, with Kirby’s Red Onion just a half game back at 4-2. The following are some of the highlights from this week’s action:

(bullet) Buxy’s 32- FOP-6: Buxy’s Nick Jones threw a 14-yard TD pass to Bart Talbert to get on the board first, but the FOP answered with a 55-yard interception returned for a touchdown by Timmy Bokinski. After that, it was all Buxy’s as Jones threw touchdown passes to Matt Heiderman, Pat Spicer and two to Evan Dittler to complete the 32-6 rout.

(bullet) Eastside Mafia 21- Backers 0:

Eastside’s Ray Taranto threw an eight-yard TD pass to Scott Dailey and a five-yard TD pass to Ron Strickler, while Chris Poochie returned an interception 27 yards for a third score.
