8/10/2012 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

OCEAN CITY- Before the big boys took the seas off the coast for the 39th Annual White Marlin Open this week, the lady anglers around the resort area last weekend had their own event, the Ocean City Marlin Club’s 4th Annual Heels and Reels Tournament.

For each of the last four years, the Marlin Club has hosted an annual tournament featuring the top lady anglers and boats in the Ocean City area. In the Billfish Release division, it was the crew on the “Ravaganza” taking first place with 1,200 total points worth $10,260. The “Reel Joy” was second with 1,100 points and earned $2,376, while the “Reelentless” crew took third with 1,000 release points and earned $1,584.

In the Tuna Division, the crew on the “Slaughterhouse” took the top two spots with a 51.4-pounder worth $9,180, and also a 31.8-pounder. The “Moore Bills” crew swept the top three spots in the dolphin division, the largest being a 36.2-pounder worth $5,850. The Top Junior Angler award went to Brooke Schmeusser with 600 points.
