BERLIN- Worcester Prep's men's varsity soccer team beat routed host Salisbury Christian, 10-0, on Tuesday to improve to 2-1 thus far early in the season.
The Mallards opened their season with a win over Holly Grove before falling to Sussex Tech, 2-0, last Friday on the road to fall back to 1-1 on the season. On Tuesday, Worcester left nothing to chance against old Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Salisbury Christian, dominating on both ends of the field to gain the 10-0 win and improve to 2-1.
The stingy Mallard defense kept Salisbury Christian from even getting a whiff of the goal, while the offense fired on all cylinders with nine different players getting in the box score. Matt Carey led the attack with two goals, while Steve Pappas, Christian Payne, Chase Humphrey, Hunter Marshall, Jeff Anderson, Ray Nichols, Parker McIntosh and Billy Tyler each added single tallies.
Worcester plays its home opener today against always-tough Gunston, and will face Our Lady of Mount Carmel from the Baltimore area at home tomorrow.
