OCEAN CITY- Several large fish, caught both inshore and offshore, highlighted the Ocean City Marlin Club's 27th Annual Small Boat tournament in the waters in and around the resort area.
The Marlin Club's annual Small Boat Tournament provides an opportunity for smaller boats to compete in a tournament before the bigger events such as the Ocean City Tuna Tournament and the White Marlin Open arrive on the summer fishing calendar. The annual tournament was held last Saturday and Sunday and was open to all boats under 35-feet in length. The event is divided into two divisions; the Offshore Division and the Inshore Division. The tournament provided many winners in both the inshore and offshore categories. For example, in the Offshore Division, it was the 'My Desire' taking the top spot in the tuna division, while the 'Intrepid' came in second and the 'Black Jack' came in third. The '2nd Mate' took first place in the dolphin division.
There were plenty of fish caught in the inshore division of the Small Boat Tournament. In the flounder division, it was 'Skip's' taking first place with a 4.8-pounder, while the 'Sea Hunt' took second and third place with a 4.3-pound and a 3.8-pound flounder.
In the tautog division, it was the 'Jezebel' taking first place with 'Skip's' taking second-place and third-place.
'Skip's' was all over the leaderboard in several inshore categories. For example, it also took first-place in the sea bass division, while the 'Fishful Thinking' took second and 'Carol's Teakettle' took third. The 'TJ Marie' took first place in the bluefish division, while the 'Sea Hunt' came in second.
