BERLIN- Despite a short bench caused by the injury and illness of a few key players, Worcester Prep's boys' varsity basketball team routed Greenwood Mennonite, 51-21, on Tuesday to improve to 6-3 on the season.
Missing a few players due to various ailments, the Mallards went with just eight players against the Flames on Tuesday, but the shorter bench had little impact on the outcome. Worcester got out to an early lead, built on it through the contest and cruised to the 30-point win. Tuesday's match-up was a far cry from the first meeting between the two teams.
In the season opener, the Mallards snuffed the Flames, 36-34, in overtime. Senior Alex Maccarri led the Mallards with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow senior Justin Butler pitched in 13 points.
