BERLIN -- A Salisbury woman was arrested on drunk-driving charges twice within the span of about three hours early yesterday morning, the second time with her 4-year-old child in the vehicle.
Around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, Maryland State Police (MSP) troopers from the Salisbury barrack responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the area of westbound Route 50 at Hobbs Rd. Troopers pulled over the suspected vehicle and later determined the driver, identified as Ann Marie Abdullin, was operating while impaired by alcohol and with her child.
The investigation revealed Abdullin had just been released from the MSP Berlin barrack following her arrest around 1:30 a.m. in Worcester County for driving while intoxicated. The arrest in Wicomico occurred just about three hours after Abdullin’s arrest in Worcester.
According to police reports, Abdullin was released from the MSP Berlin barrack to a sober driver, who transported her back to her vehicle and allowed her to drive away. Charges are pending against the sober driver.
Abdullin was charged in Wicomico with driving under the influence while impaired, operating a motor vehicle within 12 hours of being arrested for DUI, negligent driving and other minor traffic offenses. She was also charged with second-degree assault on the law enforcement officer although the details of that segment of the incident were not included in the police report.
