BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s boys’ varsity soccer team remained unbeaten this week with a pair of wins over Mardela last Friday and a 3-1 over Crisfield on Tuesday to improve to 8-0 on the season.
The 6-0 win over Mardela last Friday was the Seahawks’ fourth shutout of the year and third in a row. On Tuesday, Decatur got by a pesky Crisfield team, beating the Crabbers, 3-1. Jason Stitely led the Decatur offense with two goals, while Zak Hoshino added a single tally. The Decatur defense was outstanding as it has been all season, led by keeper Dan Cericola, who recorded six saves in the win.
With the 3-1 win over the Crabbers on Tuesday, the Seahawks’ record now stands at 8-0 on the season. During the winning streak, Decatur has now outscored its opponents by a combined 34-4. The Seahawks maintain a slim one-game lead over Parkside, which is currently 7-1, in the Bayside South.
Decatur played Washington on the road yesterday in a game played too late to be included in this edition. The Seahawks finish with a tough stretch of three games against Snow Hill, Parkside and Bennett, all at home, to close out the regular season starting with a home game against the Eagles next Tuesday.
