OCEAN CITY- The Ocean City community lost a fishing legend and local treasure last weekend when Captain Bob Gowar, who had trolled the waters in and around the resort area for decades, passed away at the age of 73.
Gowar, who most recently captained the “Bay Bee” out of the Ocean City Fishing Center, died last Saturday, December 3. According to reports, Gowar suffered a heart attack in his deer stand while hunting deer and later died at AGH. Gowar, was a local legend in the resort’s fishing community with decades of experience both inshore and offshore. He was a private boat captain for the Nichols family for nearly 30 years and was a charter member of the Ocean City Marlin Club. A memorial service is scheduled for this morning at 11 a.m. at the Marlin Club in West Ocean City.
