State Surfing Championships Still On

8/21/2009 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

OCEAN CITY- As of mid-week, the Eastern Surfing Association's Maryland State Championships scheduled for tomorrow in Ocean City were still on despite of pending threat of Hurricane Bill, which was still churning in the Atlantic yesterday with an uncertain track.

The ESA's Maryland States are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, August 22, at either the Inlet or 48th Street in Ocean City. Depending on the storm, conditions could either be greatly enhanced or deteriorated to the point the contest can't be held. Registration was held in advance, but there is an opportunity for sign-ups on the beach from 7-7:30 a.m. The first heat in the contest is scheduled for 8 a.m.
