Worcester Prep Girls Have Up and Down Week

12/18/2009 | By Shawn J. Soper, Sports Editor

BERLIN- Worcester Prep's girls' varsity basketball team had an up and down week, winning two games before falling to Delmarva Christian, 29-21 on the road on Tuesday.

The Mallards beat Christian Tabernacle Academy, 28-27, in overtime in its own invitational tournament last Saturday. Devon Zorn scored 10 points to lead Worcester over CTA in the tournament including five big points in the decisive overtime period.

On Monday, the Mallards were back in action at home against Countryside Christian and won 30-20 in another low scoring game. Kayla Bauer scored six points in the win, while Zorn pitched in five points.

Worcester completed the whirlwind run of three games in four days on Tuesday, falling to host Delmarva Christian, 29-21, in yet another defensive struggle. Teresa Ciletti scored nearly half of her team's points and finished with 12, while Claire Brown did a nice job on the board, grabbing 10 rebounds.

Worcester finishes the first half with a home game against Salisbury Christian this afternoon and returns to action on January 5 against Salisbury Christian on the road. After the first phase of the season, the Mallards' record now stands at 3-3.
