OCEAN CITY- The resort area will become ground zero for youth lacrosse this weekend with hundreds of the top boys’ and girls’ youth programs from all over the country descending on Ocean City and northern Worcester County for the annual Beach Lax Splash tournaments.
Hosted by the Beach Lacrosse program, in conjunction with Warrior and the Ocean City Recreation and Parks Department, the event is essentially two tournaments going on simultaneously. Beach Lacrosse’s girls’ only tournament will take place entirely at Northside Park in Ocean City. The action got underway this morning and will continue all weekend with games practically around the clock, culminating with the championship games in various divisions on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Warrior Beach Lax Festival, which includes many of the top boys’ youth lacrosse programs throughout the mid-Atlantic region and beyond, also got started today. Games in various divisions and age brackets will be played all weekend at the Northern Worcester Athletic Complex, Berlin Intermediate School, Most Blessed Sacrament School, Buckingham Elementary and Stephen Decatur High School.
