BERLIN- The standout Stephen Decatur varsity wrestling team is looking for the next generation with its Junior Seahawk Wrestling Program with sign-ups for the winter season scheduled for next month.
The Decatur wrestling program has become a powerhouse on the Eastern Shore and across the state in recent years and its success has largely been attributable to a strong feeder program for young athletes. The Junior Seahawk program provides young wrestlers with the instruction and training needed to succeed at the high school level.
To that end, the Junior Seahawk Wrestling Program will hold sign-ups for the winter season at the SDHS Wrestling Room on November 19 starting a 5:30 p.m. The first practice will be held the same night and will be held on Monday and Wednesday night throughout the season at the same location from 6-7:30 p.m. The cost is $50 due at sign-up.
Wrestlers who bring their insurance cards will be able to practice the first night. All participants must bring a USA Wrestling insurance card, which is available for purchase at www.themat.com. For more information, contact Junior Seahawk Administrator Mike McInerney at (443) 944-2141, or mcinerneym@verizon.net.
