BERLIN- Stephen Decatur’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team got its promising 2011 campaign off to a great start this week with a big 11-9 win on the road against Bayside North power Easton in the season opener for both teams.
Last year, the Seahawks won the Class 3A-East region and advanced to the state’s Final Four before bailing out in the semifinals. This year, with much of the starting nucleus intact, the team hopes to take the next step. Wednesday’ big win over Easton was a good start. Leigh Anne Flounlacker led Decatur with three goals and three assists, while Lauren Holloway added two goals.
