BERLIN- Worcester Prep’s boy’s varsity lacrosse team’s potentially promising 2011 campaign got off to a good start on Wednesday with a 15-1 shellacking of Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference (ESIAC) rival Salisbury School.
With talent and depth at nearly all positions on the field, the prospects look good for another successful season for the Mallards’ boys’ lacrosse team. The roster is loaded with seniors and juniors with a talented group of underclassmen settling into their roles on both ends of the field.
The Mallards hosted Salisbury School on Wednesday in the season opener for both teams and routed the Dragons, 15-1, behind a balanced scoring attack that saw 10 players get in the scorebook. Sophomore Harrison Brennan led the Worcester offensive onslaught with four goals while fellow sophomore Henry Hastings added three. Ryan McGuire scored two goals and dished out two assists and junior Jake Emche scored a goal and handed out two assists. Alex Ternahan had a goal and two assists, while Billy Tyler, Alec Zarif, Chris Fisher and Zach Manning all added single goals. Andrew Ternahan and Zach Jacobs each recorded an assist.
The Mallards hit the road next Tuesday for a game against St. Andrew’s before returning home next Thursday for a big game against Salesianum.
